I am still in shock about the events of this past weekend. I am still wondering what in the world are we doing to ourselves as a country. It is impossible to believe that this country is continuing to have this debate about simple gun control. I am not sure what more will have to happen to make us see that change is really needed. As we continue to deal with the seeming lack of action by our elected officials, who are blaming each other for what is not happening to stop this insanity, I have to take a moment to highlight one elected official and her contribution to the conversation regarding some of the root causes for this insanity that is plaguing our country.

In her Facebook post, Ohio Rep. Candice Keller complained about liberals playing the "blame game" after every shooting and asked why not place the blame where it belongs. Under normal circumstances this sounds like a legitimate question, but her answers did shock me because according to her:

I am still not sure that any of these individual concerns for which Rep. Keller argues (clearly with much deep thought and prayer) are not so ridiculous on Planet WTF from where she clearly hails. However, here in what used to be an intelligent America, I appreciate that she is representing a sector of this population that must be thrilled to get these asinine talking points to the forefront for all of us to see. These are some of the thoughts that are running through the places that are considered the “swing states”. This is where the nuts and bolts of who we are as Americans, the real fabric of our proud land, and the collected sealed fates of all of us “Coastal Thinking Liberals” are held in the hands of these people. I don’t know about you, but I am scared. All of this Second Amendment gun madness is so frightening because common sense is just being ignored.

I will also admit that I am so tired of how our media reports on these young, white, confused, shooters as lost souls still trying to be understood. I do think that there is some sort of mental illness coupled with less parental scrutiny at the foundation of some of this erratic behavior, and that is not unique to any one race of people. However, you have to admit that there is some extra coddling given to some of these people who are committing these heinous acts. I hesitate to point it out, because so many people will say that I am trying to stoke some flames, but to me this is TERRORISM being perpetrated by the hands of some very disturbed people, who, according to some media, are painfully in need, because they are mis-understood. The fact that anyone would leave his/her home and drive 10 hours to shoot people, or shoot up an entire movie theater leaving behind a booby trapped apartment, or blow up buildings is just batshit crazy. I think as we try to paint so many people as unpatriotic, blah, blah, blah, racist, blah, blah, blah, we can not underestimate the amount of unstable people walking around this country, on the verge of doing great harm, based on some of these unpatriotic and racist beliefs. The imaginary and unfounded rage is what makes them even more dangerous. They are all waiting for the right moment to have a Michael Douglas Falling Down moment (rent it). Now add that you can now have some sort of social media fame/infamy moment makes it even more enticing to these even more unstable young people.

So as the media tries to understand the underlying reasons that an otherwise upstanding, young, white man could possibly have perpetrated this madness, I will continue to move through the world like everyone is on the verge of taking us out, which is why you better say excuse me no matter who accidentally bumps into you on the streets. You might be the polite person that saves the day and you don’t even realize it. As for Ohio State Representative Candice Keller, please take your, homophobic, xenophobic, racist butt somewhere and have not one, not two, but SEVERAL seats! No one really has time for you. For those who do have time for your trifling behind, go fornicate yourself.
